Get to know the Edit Tab
Get to know the Edit Tab
The Edit Tab is where your Simplebooklet actually comes to life. Layer in videos, swap out images, drop in lead-capture forms, link a button to your site, rearrange pages — anything that turns a flat document into an interactive experience starts here. The left-hand toolbar is your toolkit, the canvas in the middle is your page, and the icons up top let you fine-tune anything you've placed.
How to Open the Edit Tab
- Open your Dashboard.
- On the Simplebooklet you want to work on, click Edit.
The Edit Tab loads with the toolbar on the left, your current page in the middle, and a few helper icons in the top-right. The Edit / Design / Record / Share tabs at the very top are the same on every screen — they're how you switch between building (Edit), styling (Design), narrating (Record), and publishing (Share) your Simplebooklet.
The Left Toolbar
The left toolbar is where every interactive element lives. Click any tool to drop it onto the page you're working on, then drag it where you want it.
- Hotspot — An invisible clickable area you can layer on top of any part of your page. Great for making a logo, image, or section of text trigger an action without changing how the page looks.
- Buttons — Add a styled, clickable button that does something specific. Pick from Video, Image, Caption, File Download, Phone, Email, Website, Address,
Share, Buy, Reserve, or Custom Button.
- Images — Drop in an image from your computer, your media library, or a URL. Good for logos, product shots, or anything visual you want to add on top of an existing page.
- Video — Embed a video so readers can play it right inside your Simplebooklet — no popups, no leaving the page. Upload your own or paste a YouTube/Vimeo link.
- Audio — Add an audio clip to a page. Useful for product demos, music, voice intros, or anything that benefits from sound.
- Text — Add a text box. Style it with your fonts, colors, and sizes, and place it wherever you need.
- Stickers — Pick from a library of icons, badges, and decorative elements to add personality or call out important parts of your page.
- Forms — Capture leads right from your booklet. Choose Form Builder to build one from scratch, or Form Templates for pre-built options like contact forms, newsletter sign-ups, and feedback forms.
- Code — Embed live web content directly into a page. Options include Embed/iFrame, Document Display, Collection Display, Shopify, and Google Forms / Sheets / Slides / Docs / Video.
- Pages — Manage the pages of your Simplebooklet. From here you can Add, Duplicate, Rearrange, set Dimensions, change the Background Color, or Delete pages.
- Canva — Open the Canva integration to import a Canva design directly onto your page.
- Smart Blocks — Pre-built blocks of content you can drop in and customize — handy when you want a polished layout without building from scratch.
The Right-Side Icons
Up in the top-right of the Edit Tab, four small icons handle quick actions you'll reach for often:
- New Page — Add a fresh page to your Simplebooklet.
- Outline View — Switch to a bird's-eye view of every page so you can rearrange, duplicate, or delete pages without scrolling.
- Snap to Grid — Toggle a grid that helps you align elements precisely as you place and resize them.
- Element Editor — Open the Element Editor panel (more on that below).
The Element Editor
Click any element on your page — an image, button, text box, anything — and the Element Editor panel opens on the right with two tabs:
- Actions — What the element does. Set up Link behavior, add an Animate effect, manage Layer order, Rotate, Lock, Set Page Repeat (have it appear on multiple pages), Expand, Copy / Paste, Remove from Background, Undo / Redo, or Delete.
- Styles — How the element looks. Adjust Border, Background, and Block styles to match your branding.
The Element Editor only shows up once you've selected something on the page, so if you don't see it, click an element first.
Notes
Tap the Notes panel to leave yourself sticky notes while you build — reminders, to-dos, or quick thoughts. Notes only show up to you in the Edit Tab. They never appear in your published Simplebooklet, so feel free to scribble away.
Need a refresher?
Click the ? icon (top-right of the Edit Tab) to open a quick Learn about Edit Tab walkthrough — handy if you ever want a reminder of what each tool does without leaving the editor.
