Add a Message Popup

Message Popup

The Message Popup lets you add a personal message and call-to-action to your Simplebooklet. It appears as an overlay at the moment of your choosing, helping you connect with your audience and guide them toward a specific action — before they've even finished reading.

Available on: Pro plan and above.

Why Use a Message Popup?

Every reader who opens your booklet is already engaged — the Message Popup lets you capitalize on that attention. Whether it's a welcome note, a quick pitch, or a prompt to book a call, the popup puts your most important message front and center at exactly the right moment.

Your logo appears automatically at the top of the popup, and you can optionally include your headshot to add a personal, human touch.

How to Set Up a Message Popup

  1. Open a Simplebooklet from your Dashboard and click the Design tab.

  1. In the left-hand toolbar, click Popups.

  1. Toggle Message Popup on.

  1. Click the pencil icon to open the Message Popup editor. A live preview of the popup appears on the right side of the screen.

Write Your Message

  1. In the Message field, write the note that will appear in the popup — a welcome letter, a brief introduction, or a short pitch.

Use the formatting toolbar to apply bold, italic, underline, or add a hyperlink.

Tip: Keep your message focused and brief. Readers are here to read your booklet — a short, warm message lands better than a long one.

Use the Message Agent

Rather than writing from scratch, you can use the AI-powered Message Agent to generate a message for you.

  1. Click Run Agent at the top of the Message section.

  1. The agent will generate a welcome message based on your booklet's content.

  1. Review the generated message and edit or personalize it as needed.

The Message Agent is one of your AI Specialist Agents. You can always tweak what it generates — it's a starting point, not a final draft.

Tip: You don't need to wait around while the agent works. Feel free to keep editing your booklet or switch to another task entirely. To check on progress at any time, click the AI Agent status icon in the top-right corner of any section — it'll show you exactly where your agent is at.

Add a Call to Action

A Call to Action adds a button to the bottom of your popup that links readers to a specific destination.

  1. Under Call to Action, enter a Button Label — the text that appears on the button (e.g., "Book a Call", "Visit Our Site", "Donate Now").

  1. Enter a Button Link — the full URL the button links to.

Tip: Link to something specific and relevant, not just your homepage. A booking page, a donation form, or a product page will convert better.

Configure Options

Show On Page

  1. Enter the page number where you want the popup to appear. The popup will trigger when the reader reaches that page.

Set this to page 1 if you want the popup to appear immediately when the booklet opens.

Delay

  1. Choose how long after the page loads before the popup appears:

A short delay (2–5 seconds) gives readers a moment to see the booklet before the popup appears, which tends to feel less intrusive.

Display Headshot

  1. Toggle on Display Headshot to show your profile photo alongside your message.

Your headshot is pulled automatically from your Brand Kit. Make sure you've uploaded one there first for this option to work.

Preview and Save

As you configure the popup, a live preview updates in real time on the right side of the screen — exactly as your readers will see it.

  1. When you're satisfied with the popup, click Done in the top-right corner to save your settings.

How This Impacts the Reader's Journey

The Message Popup activates at the Action stage of the Reader's Journey. By surfacing a personal message and a direct call-to-action at a moment when your reader is already engaged, it gives them a clear next step — whether that's booking a meeting, visiting your site, or following up with you directly.
