# Password Protect A Collection

# Password Protect Your Collection

Adding a password to your collection lets you share the link freely while keeping the contents visible only to people you've authorized. You can add multiple unique passwords, assign them to specific users, and manage or remove them at any time.

|| Available on: Pro plan and above.

## Why Password Protect?

A public link is convenient — but sometimes your content is for a specific audience. Internal training materials, client deliverables, gated resources, or draft content for review all benefit from an extra layer of access control.

Once a password is added, your collection is immediately blocked from access until a valid password is entered. You can change or remove passwords at any time without changing your collection link.

## How to Add a Password

1. Open your **Dashboard** and click the **Your Collections** tab.

2. Find your collection and click the **Edit** (pencil) icon.

3. Click the **Share** button in the top-right corner of the Collection Editor.

4. Toggle on **Require a password**.

5. Click the **gear icon** to open the password manager.

6. Enter a **password** in the field.

7. Optionally, enter a **username** to assign this password to a specific person. Leave the username blank if you want the password to work for everyone.

8. Click **Save**. Your collection is now password protected immediately.

| **Tip:** To test your password, open your collection link in an incognito or private browser window — the owner account bypasses the password automatically.

## Adding Multiple Passwords

You can have more than one unique password on a collection — useful if you're sharing with different groups and want to track access separately.

9. In the password manager, click **Add More** to add another password.

10. Enter the new password (and optional username), then click **Save**.

## Managing Passwords

The password manager's **Manage Passwords** tab shows all active passwords. From here you can:

* **Update** — Click a password to edit it.

* **Eye icon** — See how many times that password has been used.

* **Delete** — Remove access for a specific password or username.

* **Remove All** — Clear all passwords at once.

| Removing all passwords makes your collection publicly accessible to anyone with the link.

## How Password Sessions Work

Simplebooklet uses cookies to manage password sessions:

* If you're signed in as the **owner**, the password prompt won't appear.

* For your **audience**, once they enter the password successfully, they won't be asked again during the same browser session.
