Add a Video Hotspot to your Simplebooklet


A video hotspot lets you link a part of your Simplebooklet to a video, making your content more engaging and interactive. You can link to videos hosted on platforms like YouTube or Vimeo, or upload a video directly from your device. Here’s how to set up a video hotspot:

How to Add a Video Hotspot to your Simplebooklet


  1. Open your Dashboard and scroll to the Simplebooklet you want to add a link hotspot to.


  1. Click the Edit tab.



  1. Select the page where you want to add the hotspot.


  1. In the left-hand toolbar, click the Hotspot button.



  1. From the drop-down menu, select Video.



  1. Choose between two options for adding a video:


Embed:



  • Add a link to a video hosted on platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive.


  • Simply paste the URL of the video you want to link to.


  • Once you're ready, click Add to add the video to your booklet.


Upload:



  • Upload a video file directly from your device (MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MKV, or WEBM up to 50MB).


  • Click the Choose File button and select your video file from your device.


For animated GIF files, use the image upload feature.


Customize your video settings (only for the Upload option):


  • Autoplay on Open: Automatically play the video when the page is opened.


  • Muted Audio: Play the video without sound by default.


  • Hide Video Playbar: Hide the video controls.


  • Loop Video: Make the video play continuously in a loop.


Uploading offers more customization options and ensures that your video appears without external branding for a cleaner look.


  • Once you're ready, click Add Video to add the video to your booklet.


  1. Click on the hotspot to resize and reposition it using the Element Editor.



In the Edit Tab, your hotspot will appear with orange outlines and icons. However, once you preview your booklet or share it, viewers will not see these orange outlines or icons. The hotspot will still be interactive, but the visual indicators will be hidden. These hotspots will briefly flash when the page is first opened to help viewers identify them as clickable, but the outlines will not remain visible. To make the clickable areas more obvious, consider adding an icon or website text below your hotspot to signal to users that it's a clickable link.


  1. Preview your booklet to ensure that everything works as expected.



  1. Your video hotspot is now added and ready to be interacted with!


If you want to change any settings for your hotspot later, just click on the small orange box to the left of the hotspot. This will allow you to access the settings and make any necessary adjustments
