Accessibility Specialist

The Accessibility Specialist generates a complete text-only version of your booklet optimized for screen readers and keyboard navigation. Readers access it via the Accessibility button in your navbar, and it helps your content align with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Available on: Pro plan and above.

Supports booklets up to 30 pages. If your booklet is longer than 30 pages, you'll need to reduce the page count before generating.

How to Use the Accessibility Specialist

  1. Open your Dashboard and select the Simplebooklet you want to update.

  1. Click the Design tab.

  1. In the left-hand toolbar, click Advanced.

  1. Under Nav Buttons, toggle on the Accessibility Menu so readers can find it in your navbar. | The Accessibility button won't appear in your navbar until this toggle is on — even after the agent has finished.

  1. Click the AI Agents button at the top of the left-hand toolbar to open the panel.

  1. Toggle on the Accessibility Specialist and click Activate Your Agents.

  1. You'll receive a notification when the agent is done: "Your accessibility content is ready! Open the Accessibility Menu to review it." It will also turn green in the panel.

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the Accessibility Specialist to open the review panel. A live preview shows the text-only version exactly as your readers will see it.

  1. To edit a page, navigate to it and click the pencil icon on that page to open the text editor. Make your changes and click the save icon to confirm. | You'll receive a confirmation message once your edits are saved.

  1. Click Full Page at the top of the preview if you'd like to open the accessibility version in a new browser tab for easier reviewing.

  1. Once you're satisfied, your accessibility content is live and available to readers through the Accessibility button in your navbar.

Disclaimer: Accessibility content is generated automatically and may not be a perfect verbatim copy of your original. The original source document will be considered the authoritative version.

How This Impacts the Reader's Journey

The Accessibility Specialist works at the Awareness and Attention stages of the Reader's Journey by making sure your content is open to everyone. For readers who rely on screen readers or keyboard navigation, a visually designed booklet can be difficult or impossible to read without an accessible version. Without it, those readers never make it past the first page — or past the first click.

By providing a clean, text-only version of your booklet, you ensure that every reader — regardless of how they access your content — has a chance to move through their journey. It also demonstrates that your booklet was made thoughtfully and with your audience in mind, which builds trust at every stage.
