Add an Accessibility Menu to your Navbar
Add an Accessibility Menu to Your Navbar
The Accessibility Menu generates a text-only version of your booklet optimized for screen readers and keyboard navigation, helping your content align with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Readers access it via the Accessibility button in your navbar — it doesn't change how your booklet looks for anyone else.
Available on all plans. The Accessibility Specialist AI agent is available on Pro and above.
Why Add Accessibility?
Most digitally designed content — including booklets — is invisible to screen readers and impossible to navigate with a keyboard alone. That means a portion of your audience simply can't access your content, no matter how well it's designed.
The Accessibility Menu generates a clean, text-only version of your booklet that screen readers can actually parse and keyboard users can actually navigate. Beyond inclusion, accessible content signals professionalism — it shows your audience that you take compliance seriously.
Supports booklets up to 30 pages. If your booklet is longer, you'll need to reduce the page count before generating.
Two Ways to Get Started
Option 1: Generate with the Accessibility Specialist
The Accessibility Specialist generates your text-only version automatically. Available on Pro and above.
- From your Dashboard, open a booklet and click the Design tab.
- Click the AI Agents button at the top of the left-hand toolbar.
- Toggle on the Accessibility Specialist and click Run Your Agents.
Your agent automatically turns on the Accessibility button in your navbar when it runs. If you ever want to toggle it on or off, go to Design → Advanced → Nav Buttons.
- You'll receive a notification when the agent is done — it turns green in the panel.
- Click the pencil icon next to the Accessibility Specialist to open the review panel. A live preview shows the text-only version exactly as your readers will see it.
- To edit a page, navigate to it and click the pencil icon. Make your changes and click the save icon to confirm.
- Click Full Page at the top of the preview to open the accessibility version in a new browser tab for easier reviewing.
Option 2: Generate Manually from the Design Tab
- From your Dashboard, open a booklet and click the Design tab.
- In the left-hand toolbar, click Advanced.
- Under the Nav Buttons section, toggle on Accessibility Menu.
- Click the pencil icon next to Accessibility to open the customization panel.
- Click Generate Accessibility Content.
You'll see a warning that generating new content will replace any existing version. A progress message will appear while the text is being generated, and you'll receive a notification when it's ready.
- A live preview drawer opens showing the text-only version. Flip through the pages to review.
- To edit a page, navigate to it, click the pencil icon, make your changes, and click the save icon to confirm.
- Click Full Page at the top if you want the Accessibility Menu to open in a new browser tab.
Disclaimer
Accessibility content is generated automatically and may not be a perfect verbatim copy of the original. In the event of any inconsistency, the original source document will be considered the authoritative version.
How This Impacts the Audience Journey
The Accessibility Menu supports the Awareness and Attention stages of the Audience Journey by making sure your content is open to everyone. For readers who rely on screen readers or keyboard navigation, a visually designed booklet can be difficult or impossible to engage with without an accessible version. By providing a clean text-only version, you ensure that every reader — regardless of how they access your content — has the opportunity to move through your booklet and take action.
