Compress your Files to Meet Simplebooklet's Upload Size Limits

Compress Your Files to Meet Simplebooklet's Upload Size Limits

If you receive an error while uploading your file, it likely exceeds your plan’s upload size limit. Large files are typically caused by high-resolution images, print-quality exports, or embedded animations.

Compressing your file or optimizing media will usually resolve the issue.

Available on all plans.

Upload File Size Limits by Plan

Your maximum upload size depends on your subscription:

  • Free Plan — 25 MB

  • Basic Plan — 75 MB

  • Pro Plan — 250 MB

  • Business Plan — 350 MB

If your file exceeds your plan’s limit, you’ll need to reduce the file size before uploading.

Why Your File Might Be Too Large

Your file may exceed the upload limit if:

  • It was exported at high print resolution (300 DPI or higher)

  • It contains large, uncompressed images

  • It includes many pages

  • It contains embedded design layers

Tip: GIFs can dramatically increase your file size — even short ones. If your PDF includes GIFs, try uploading them as Video inside Simplebooklet instead of embedding them directly in the PDF. Video compression is far more efficient and helps keep your file size manageable.

For web viewing, lighter files perform better and load faster for your readers.

How to Compress Your PDF

We recommend using a free compression tool such as:

https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf

Steps:

  1. Go to ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf

  1. Upload your PDF

  1. Choose a compression level

  1. Download the compressed version

  1. Re-upload the optimized file to Simplebooklet

If your file is still too large, try selecting a stronger compression option.

What If Compression Affects Quality?

If your compressed file appears blurry:

  • Try a lighter compression setting

  • Lower image resolution manually before exporting

  • Re-export using web-optimized settings instead of print settings

In most cases, properly compressed files will look the same to viewers on screen.

How This Impacts the Reader’s Journey

Optimizing file size supports the Awareness and Attention stages of the Reader’s Journey by improving load speed and reducing friction. Faster loading ensures your audience begins engaging with your content immediately instead of waiting for large files to process.
