How we Calculate your Print Savings
How we Calculate your Print Savings
When your Simplebooklet hits key view milestones (50, 100, 500, 1000 opens), you’ll receive an email celebrating your progress — including an estimate of how much money you’ve saved by sharing digitally instead of printing.
This article explains how we calculate that number so you understand exactly where it comes from.
Why we Show Print Savings
Every time someone opens your Simplebooklet, that’s one person who didn’t need a printed copy.
Our Print Savings estimate helps you understand:
- The approximate cost you avoided by not printing those copies
- How digital sharing extends the reach of your collateral
- The real-world value of publishing and distributing content online
These savings reflect printing + getting that printed collateral into people’s hands (mailing, drop-offs, distribution, etc.).
How the Calculation Works
Our calculator is based on public, industry-standard pricing from popular commercial print vendors like Vistaprint and Canva.
The two universal truths across all print vendors:
- Bulk pricing: the more you print, the cheaper each copy becomes
- Booklets cost more than brochures: because of extra paper, binding, and production
To stay accurate, we use pricing brackets that match typical bulk-print curves.
Step 1 — We Estimate Based on the Type of Content
We currently calculate savings using two separate pricing models:
1. Trifold Brochures
Cost per printed brochure:
Views | Cost per Brochure |
|---|---|
1–50 | $1.00 each |
51–100 | $0.75 each |
101–250 | $0.50 each |
251–500 | $0.35 each |
500+ | $0.30 each |
These tiers reflect average commercial pricing for glossy trifold brochures.
2. Booklets
Booklet pricing also adjusts based on page count:
Page-based price adjustments
- ≤ 8 pages → base cost
- 9–16 pages → base + $0.25
- 16+ pages → base + $0.50
Cost per printed booklet view:
Views | ≤8 pages | 9–16 pages | 16+ pages |
|---|---|---|---|
1–100 | $3.50 | $3.75 | $4.00 |
101–250 | $3.00 | $3.25 | $3.50 |
251–500 | $2.00 | $2.25 | $2.50 |
500+ | $1.00 | $1.25 | $1.50 |
These brackets match common booklet print pricing structures across major vendors.
Step 2 — We Adjust for Unique Viewers
Not every “open” in your report equals a unique person — many viewers return to your booklet more than once.
Based on our platform data:
The average viewer opens a booklet 1.5 times.
To keep savings realistic, your total view count is divided by 1.5 to estimate unique readers.
Step 3 — We Apply the Bulk Pricing Model
We plug your adjusted unique viewer number into the appropriate pricing brackets for your content type (trifold or booklet).
This gives you a realistic estimate of what it would have cost to print that many copies.

Important Notes
To keep this clear and accurate:
- These savings are estimates. Only you know your exact print and distribution costs.
- Pricing varies by vendor, paper type, finishing, and shipping.
- The calculation includes printing + distributing a physical copy.
- The purpose is to show the value of digital sharing— not replace your internal budgeting.
Why This Matters
Understanding the real-world cost of printing helps you see the impact your Simplebooklet is already making:
- Lower printing costs
- Faster distribution
- Less waste
- Increased reach
- Better insight into audience behavior
It’s one more way Simplebooklet helps modernize how you share your content.
