How do I see which pages readers spend time on?

The Page Views and Time report shows how many times each page of your Simplebooklet was viewed and how long readers spent on it. Find it in Reports > Attention > Page Views and Time, and download the chart as a .md file to analyze in ChatGPT or Claude.

What does the Page Views and Time report show?


The report has one chart, Page Views and Time-on-Page, in two parts.


The whole Simplebooklet adds up every reader across every page:


  • Combined reader time: the total time all readers spent in your Simplebooklet.
  • Avg. time per reader: the average total time each reader spent.
  • Avg. time over opens: the average time per open. One reader can open your Simplebooklet more than once.
  • Completion rate: the share of readers who reached the end of your Simplebooklet.

Each page on its own shows a bar for every page:


  • Views per Page: how many times each page was viewed. Taller bars mean more people opened that page.
  • Avg Time per Page: the average time readers spent on each page. Each view counts for up to 5 minutes, so a page left open on someone's screen doesn't skew your results.


To switch between the two, click Show Avg Page Time or Show Page Views below the chart.

The report shows totals and averages. It doesn't show who your readers are.

How do I open the Page Views and Time report?


  1. On your Dashboard, click Reports on your Simplebooklet.
  2. In the left-hand menu, under Attention, click Page Views and Time.

How do I change the date range?


Click the date range in the top-right corner of Reports, then choose Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, All Time or Custom Range.


The chart and the .md file you download use the date range you choose.

How do I download the chart as a .md file?


  1. Set the date range you want.
  2. On the Page Views and Time-on-Page chart, click MD in its top-right corner.


The file saves to your downloads folder, named after the chart and dates, for example page-views-2026-06-02-to-2026-10-18.md.

The file includes your Simplebooklet's title, the date range, a one-line description of the chart and a table with every page's views and average time in seconds. The whole Simplebooklet totals aren't included in the file. It contains totals and averages only, with no names or email addresses.



What can I do with the .md file?


Ask ChatGPT or Claude about it


  1. Open ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Attach the .md file, or open it and paste the text into the chat.
  3. Ask a question about how readers move through your pages.


No API keys or setup needed. The AI recommends; you decide what to change.

  • "Which page gets views but very little time? What might make readers skip it?"

Use it with your other report files


Attach the Page Views file to the same chat as your Opens or Referrals files and ask how they fit together. Or paste it into an email, Slack message or doc to share your numbers with your team.



Common questions


Why do my later pages have fewer views?


Not every reader reaches the end. It's normal for views to drop page by page. A sharp drop after one page is worth a closer look, since that page may be where readers lose interest.


Why does Avg Time per Page stop at 5 minutes?


Each view counts for up to 5 minutes (300 seconds). If a reader leaves a page open and walks away, that view still only counts for 5 minutes, so one idle screen doesn't inflate your averages.


Does the Page Views and Time report show who read my Simplebooklet?

Why don't the numbers in my .md file match what I expected?


Check your date range. The file only includes views from the date range set in the top-right corner of Reports when you downloaded it. To see every view since you published, choose All Time.
