How do I see where my Simplebooklet readers come from?
The Referrals report shows where readers came from when they opened your Simplebooklet, such as a website link or a direct link. Find it in Reports > Awareness > Referrals, and download the chart as a .md file to analyze in ChatGPT or Claude.
What does the Referrals report show?
The Referrals report has one chart, Audience Referrals. Its Referrer Breakdown pie chart groups opens by source, with the share for each:
- Direct: no referring website was recorded. This usually means the reader typed or pasted your link, used a bookmark, or opened it from an email or messaging app.
- A website address: the page the reader clicked your link on, for example a page on your website where you shared or embedded your Simplebooklet.
- simplebooklet.com/dashboard.php: opens from a Simplebooklet Dashboard, usually you or your team checking the Simplebooklet.

The Referrals report shows sources and totals. It doesn't show who your readers are.
How do I open the Referrals report?
- On your Dashboard, click Reports on your Simplebooklet.
- In the left-hand menu, under Awareness, click Referrals.

How do I change the date range?
Click the date range in the top-right corner of Reports, then choose Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, All Time or Custom Range.
The chart and the .md file you download use the date range you choose.

How do I download the chart as a .md file?
- Set the date range you want.
- On the Audience Referrals chart, click MD in its top-right corner.
The file saves to your downloads folder, named after the chart and dates, for example referrals-2026-06-02-to-2026-10-18.md.

The file includes your Simplebooklet's title, the date range, a one-line description of the chart and a table of every source with its number of opens and share. It contains sources and totals only, with no names or email addresses.
What can I do with the .md file?
Ask ChatGPT or Claude about it
- Open ChatGPT or Claude.
- Attach the .md file, or open it and paste the text into the chat.
- Ask a question about where your readers come from.
No API keys or setup needed. The AI recommends; you decide what to change.

Try prompts like these:
- "Which sources bring the most readers to my Simplebooklet, and where should I share it next?"
- "Most of my opens are Direct. How can I share my link so I can tell which channels are working?"
- "I shared this Simplebooklet on two web pages. Which one sends more readers?"

Use it with your other report files
Attach the Referrals file to the same chat as your Opens files, like Location or Devices, and ask how they fit together. Or paste it into an email, Slack message or doc to share your numbers with your team.
Common questions
Why are most of my opens Direct?
Many sharing methods don't pass along a referring website. Links opened from email, text messages, messaging apps and bookmarks all show as Direct. Opens only show a website address when a reader clicks your link on a webpage.
Does the Referrals report show who read my Simplebooklet?
No. It shows sources and totals. To collect readers' names and email addresses, use a Lead Gate. Learn more: Track Lead Gate Results in your Simplebooklet
Why don't the numbers in my .md file match what I expected?
Check your date range. The file only includes opens from the date range set in the top-right corner of Reports when you downloaded it. To see every open since you published, choose All Time.
