Update a Simplebooklet from Canva

Update a Simplebooklet from Canva

If you've already published a Simplebooklet from Canva and want to refresh the design without losing your weblink, QR code, or audience reports, the Canva integration makes it easy. Push a new design into your existing Simplebooklet and everything else stays put — same URL, same stats, same shares already out in the world. This article walks you through both ways to do it.

Available on all plans.

When to Use This

Update your existing Simplebooklet with a new Canva design when you want to:

  • Refresh a seasonal catalog without giving every partner a new link.
  • Push monthly updates to a recurring newsletter or report and keep the link in your email signature working.
  • Fix a typo or swap a photo in a Simplebooklet that's already in circulation.
  • Iterate on a design without losing the engagement history you've built up.

If you're starting fresh with a brand-new piece of content instead, see Create from Canva for the new-booklet flow.

Two Ways to Update

There are two ways to push a new Canva design into an existing Simplebooklet, depending on where you're starting from. The end result is the same — pick whichever feels more natural to your workflow.

Path 1: Start from the Simplebooklet Dashboard

This is the fastest way to jump back into a design you've already published.

  1. Open your Dashboard.
  2. Find the Simplebooklet you want to refresh. You'll see a Canva icon on that booklet, right next to the Share button.
  3. Click the Canva icon. Your original design opens back up in Canva — no digging through Canva's file list to find it.
  4. Make your changes in Canva.
  5. When you're ready, click Share in the top-right corner of the Canva editor, choose See all, then click Simplebooklet under the Design section.
  6. Because you came in through the Edit in Canva flow, the integration knows which booklet you're editing and gives you two options:

  • Update current Simplebooklet — Pushes your fresh design into the existing booklet, keeping your link, QR code, embeds, stats, and customizations exactly as they are.
  • Make a new Simplebooklet — Publishes the updated design as a separate booklet instead.

  1. Click Update current Simplebooklet to refresh your existing booklet.

Path 2: Start from Canva

If you're already working in Canva and want to push your design into an existing Simplebooklet, you can do it without leaving the editor.

  1. With your design open in Canva, click ShareSee allSimplebooklet.
  2. In the Simplebooklet panel that opens on the right, click the Library tab.
  3. You'll see your existing Simplebooklets listed, each with a thumbnail. Beneath each one is an Update with new design button.
  4. Click Update with new design on the Simplebooklet you want to refresh.
  5. Your current Canva design pushes into that booklet — same link, same stats, same everything else.

What Stays the Same

When you update a Simplebooklet with a new Canva design, all of this stays put:

  • The weblink — Anyone you've already shared it with still has a working URL.
  • The QR code — Print materials, signage, and business cards keep working.
  • Audience reports and analytics — Your engagement history rolls forward.
  • Access controls — Passwords, lead gates, paywalls, and verified-email lists stay in place.
  • Sharing settings — Embeds on your website continue to work without re-pasting code.

What Gets Refreshed

The page content itself is replaced with your new Canva design. If you'd added Simplebooklet-side enhancements — hotspots, buttons, forms, narration, extra images — on top of the original, you may need to re-apply them in the Edit Tab after updating.

What's next?

Now that your Simplebooklet is updated:

  • Get to know the Edit Tab — Re-apply any hotspots, buttons, or forms after the design refresh.
  • Get to know the Reports Tab — Compare engagement on the new design against the old one.
  • Get to know Preview Mode — Flip through your updated booklet to make sure everything looks right before your audience does.
