Generate a QR Code for your Simplebooklet
Generate a QR Code for your Simplebooklet
A QR code makes it easy for your audience to access your Simplebooklet with a quick scan using their mobile device. You can generate a QR code directly from the Link Manager and use it in print materials, emails, or digital content to provide instant access to your Simplebooklet.
How to Generate a QR Code
- Open your Dashboard and scroll to the Simplebooklet you want to manage.
- Tap the Share button to open the Link Manager.

- Click the QR Code button to generate a unique QR code linked to your Simplebooklet.

- A pop-up will appear with your QR code and options to:

- Print Version – Opens a new tab displaying your QR code with the booklet title, URL, and an optional message (up to 4 lines). You can print this page directly by clicking the Print button at the bottom.

- Download – Saves the QR code as an image file to your device for use in digital or print materials.
- Scan the QR code with your mobile device to test its functionality.
Understanding Your QR Code and Slug
Your QR code is tied to your booklet's slug — the unique part of the URL that identifies your booklet. For example, in simplebooklet.com/yourbookletname, the slug is yourbookletname.
As long as your slug stays the same, your QR code will always work — no matter how many times you update the content inside your booklet.
Changing your slug will break your existing QR code because the URL it points to no longer exists. If you need to update your booklet's content, use the Replace feature instead. This keeps your slug, URL, and QR code completely intact.
Dashboard → Find your booklet → Replace → Upload your updated PDF
What to Do if Your QR Code Stops Working
If your QR code is no longer working, it usually means the booklet's slug or URL was changed. Here is how to fix it.
Option 1 — Restore your original slug
Dashboard → Share → Link Manager → click the pencil icon beside the URL field → type in your original slug → Save
Then test the QR code again.
Option 2 — Generate a new QR code
If you can't restore the original slug, generate a new QR code for the updated URL and replace it in your printed or digital materials.
Dashboard → Share → QR Code → Download
Using a Third-Party QR Code (Bitly or similar)
If you created your QR code through a third-party service like Bitly, the QR code points to the Bitly link — not directly to your Simplebooklet slug. This means you can update where the Bitly link redirects without replacing the QR code itself.
To point your Bitly QR code to a new booklet, log into your Bitly account, find the link attached to your QR code, and update the destination URL to your new booklet's slug. Your existing QR code will automatically redirect to the new booklet.
This is a useful approach if you regularly update your booklet content and want full control over where your QR code points.
Customising the QR Code Print Version
The text that appears on the QR code Print Version comes from your booklet title. To update it:
Dashboard → Share → click the pencil icon beside the title → update the title → Save → regenerate your QR code
Tips
- Test your QR code before distributing it to make sure it directs users correctly.
- Use Replace instead of creating a new booklet whenever you update your content — this keeps your QR code, URL, and any embeds active.
- If you use a third-party QR code service like Bitly, update the redirect URL there rather than changing your Simplebooklet slug.
