How do I password protect my Simplebooklet?

You can password protect your Simplebooklet so only people with a password can open it. It's the simplest way to keep a proposal, internal guide or members-only document with the people it's meant for, and you can give different people their own password.

How do I add a password?

On your Dashboard, click Share on your Simplebooklet. If you're already editing it, click Share in the top-right corner.
Under Your link & access, open Access Controls.
Turn on Require Password, then click the gear icon next to it.
Under Add a Password, enter a Password. To give the password to one person or group, add a User Name too.
Click Add. The password appears under Active Passwords.
Click Done.

Readers now need to enter a password before your Simplebooklet opens.

Passwords are stored securely and encrypted.

How do I give different people different passwords?

Add a separate password for each person or group, with a User Name for each, such as a client's name or "Board members". You can add as many as you need, and each one shows in the Active Passwords list.

How do I remove a password?

Click the gear icon next to Require Password. To remove every password at once, click Remove All. To turn password protection off completely, turn off Require Password.

Common questions

Do readers have to enter the password every time?

No. Readers enter the password once per browsing session. You won't be asked for a password when you're signed in as the owner, so open your Simplebooklet in a private or incognito window to test it.

Can I see who opened my Simplebooklet with a password?

Opens still count in your Reports. To see exactly which people opened your Simplebooklet, require readers to verify their email instead. Learn more: How do I require readers to verify their email?

Can I use a password with other access controls?

Yes. You can turn on more than one access control, such as a password and Lock to Webpage, for extra protection.
